    Nadia & Lili Boulanger Competition

Chosen along with 30 other duo's Koenraad & Anna will compete through three rounds in Paris at the Conservatoire Nationale Supérieur d'Art Dramatique.

The Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition has been held in Paris every two years since 2001 and helps to promote the careers of singers and pianists who perform there as a duet.

Candidates under 32 years of age come from all over the word. The repertoire they are asked to perform requires a balance between Lieder and French melody with at leat one work by Nadia Boulanger or Lili Boulanger.

During Nadia and Lili Boulanger’s childhood and lifetime French melody reached a peak to which they were witnesses and fervent promoters: Lili and Nadia as composers, Nadia as performer and extraordinary teacher. The CNLB International Voice-Piano Competition is part of this heritage, with the threefold objective of promoting young artists of a very high level, bringing the repertoire of melody and song to life and encouraging the creation of new works.

    Kitty Oppenheimer cover

In summer 2023, Trombetta covers the role of Kitty Oppenheimer in John Adams' masterpiece, Doctor Atomic, presented by Lustrum Opera and Utrechts Studenten Consortium.

    Performances: July 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25

    J. Robert Oppenheimer is the physicist leading the secret weapons laboratory department of the Manhattan Project. Together with a team of top scientists in Los Alamos, New Mexico, he is developing the world’s first nuclear bomb. In the opera, eight historical figures are represented, and the last weeks, minutes, and seconds before the first detonation are described.

Doctor Atomic was created in 2005, composed by John Adams with a libretto by Peter Sellars. The collaborations of Adams and Sellars have been successful in the past. They are known to expose politically and socially controversial topics without passing judgment or making a statement. An opera on the creation of the nuclear bomb suits them very well!

Doctor Atomic is more than an opera: a ticket includes a visit to the festival built around the thrilling story. During the festival, you will experience the exciting events of the first nuclear test in 1945 during the Manhattan Project. You get to know what creation and destruction mean in everyday life with art, music, and inspiring speakers!
